Dr. Saidi Liwaru has worked as a psychologist and international cultural consultant for
more than 35 years. He earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in psychology magna cum laude and
summa cum laude, respectfully, from the University of Kansas. He served eight years as a
Clinical Psychologist (CPT) in the U.S. Army.
He is an integral part of an international group building a state-of-the art University in
Senegal W. Africa. Towards that end, on July 28, 2007, Dr. Liwaru presented a position
paper at the United Nations: "Al Azhar University: A Mandate for Action".
In 2007, he accepted an appointment from The Universal Peace Federation as an
Ambassador for Peace. In that capacity, he traveled to Palestine and Israel and
participated in the Middle East Peace Initiative in May 2008.
He is the Imam of the Islamic Mourid community of Omaha, president of The Khadim
Rasoul Higher Education Foundation of Nebraska, Certified member of the Nebraska
Islamic Speakers Bureau. Annually, he presents 100's of lectures to schools, universities,
churches, Jewish organizations, multi-faith and cultural gatherings on Islam, Iraq, Iran,
and Afghanistan. This includes the University of Nebraska, Creighton University, Iowa
Western, and Metropolitan Colleges. In addition he has taught at the University of Kansas,
La Verne University, and Metro College.
AS a psychologist, he has treated individuals and families from many Middle Eastern
countries including Iraq.
He is host of "Real Solutions" call-in TV program with more than 300,000 viewers.
Dr. Liwaru has published books and articles on Islam, psychology, families and
management. They have been translated into several languages, including Arabic, Farsi,
and French.
He is currently working on an Islamic Counseling Manual and volume III of the Muslim
Family Reeader.
He became a Muslim over 40 years ago, has been married to his wife Maisha for 35 years,
has 10 children, 35 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
